Derek Solmie

Derek is responsible for managing and executing the firm’s global timberland disposition program for both large-scale and retail sales.  In addition to the disposition program, Derek is involved in the timberland acquisition program including identification, outreach, due diligence, analysis, negotiations, transaction management to closing, and supporting property management implementation. Previously, Derek was an operations analyst with Hancock Forest Management, then a property management subsidiary of the firm, where he was involved in budgeting, land records management, appraisal review, and transaction support. Prior to joining the firm in 2003, he worked in the forest engineering department for one of the largest private timberland owners in western Canada.
